CONFEDERACIÓN INTERNACIONAL DE GENEALOGÍA Y HERÁLDICA
Fue fundada en Bruselas (Bélgica) el 13 de noviembre de 1971 con el objetivo de crear y mantener vínculos duraderos de colaboración entre asociaciones y federaciones para el estudio de la genealogía y heráldica, para defender los intereses de los Mundo genealógico y heráldico con organizaciones nacionales y para apoyar a las asociaciones y federaciones nacionales en sus relaciones con los organismos oficiales de sus respectivos países.
Su propósito es promover la organización de congresos internacionales de ciencias genealógicas y heráldicas y la realización de las mociones que se voten.
En la Asamblea General celebrada el 4 de octubre de 2018 en la ciudad de Arras (Francia) se aprobó la propuesta de entrada de la Sociedad de Estudios Genealógicos y Heráldicos de Canarias (SEGEHECA) como nuevo miembro de la CIGH.
